I'm assuming this is the male, judging by size.

No sign of Whitman. It's looking like Newman's nest site now.

Mating season has begun at the Wilmington nest.

He's doing display flights
He's working the scarpes
They are bowing and ee-chupping daily in the nest box

Now he is bringing her gifts of food

And there are other indications ...

Newman brings food to Bridget all day now. She doesn't have to hunt at all and seems to be caching some. Almost every prey bird is a Red-winged Blackbird - 3 or more per day, almost all males.

Lots of mating. No eggs yet.

Below is a video of yesterday afternoon's prey delivery and mixup and some activity from this morning

A gift (pigeon I think) the male brought. She took it, then put it aside (for a rainy day???)

Newman has turned out to be a first-class provider. He brings as many as 4 birds a day (mainly Red-winged blackbirds, but have also seen a flicker, 2 woodcocks, and a plethora of plucked and headless goodies). Bridget often has a full crop when the next delivery comes in. In that case she takes it away and reurns minutes later, having obviously cached the prey. She has also convinced Newman to leave food in the box when it gets dak - midnight snacks?

No eggs yet, but they are really "working" hard to make eggs happen. Attached video PG-13 ? :7val:
