Lawfield, the Hamilton, Ontario juvie who has been in rehab, was released this morning! Jumped out of the carrier quickly and off he went.

The female is much more developed than the male. Unsusual.
She is perching - and will probly branch within 24 hours

as far as I know all 3 are well at Genesee. sad ot loose adult femlae part way through raising of youngbut adult male did great job. all 3 came back to box after fledging

miscercordia( all 3 ended up at Pembina and were accounted for while coming back for their dinner. they were carrying prey etc( Peter rescued one and it ended up at our house overnight. we love having these house guests. our place is the posh falcon condo LOl( we are hopin got have cam back here next year)

all 3 out at Pembina. the young male was just days away from fledging when he slipped to ground. he was rescued and brought to our place.

we had no eggs at U of A thi syear with just a youngster female arriving but we have watched her grow up before her eyes.

We are still having falcons here fall to Avain flu( the last was a young male and is being tested now)

the young male ended up on ground dehydrated and is flying out at Pembina. will try and get band as they will band him . must have been mistep as he made a few trips back to box. The last to fludge was #4. ( we thought a male but ended up to be a big girl. was a late bloomer due to having to fight for every bite at beginning as it was 4 days younger.) . but good news is we are alsmot certain it was her back at box late . ( I had seen the other 2 females back at box early on and this one looked completely differ. )

Where are adults of hobby chicks

Hawk is double the size of a Hobby.
They had to survive to breed again.

Very sad.

What a disappointing year.
I watch a Hobby nest - hawk takes both chicks.
I watch 3 loon cams, the cam of one dies, neithr of the other 2 eggs hatch and the male dies of Avian Malaria.

Lotta regular falcons never returned in 2025.
Lotta 1 year old Moms... the GSB new mom did well.

Tufff year.

Very tough Shepherd. We have lost 4 falcons and we know 2 to avian flu, one being tested and we lost our new mom at Genesee and thinking avian flu. She had such potential
